About the class: I'll be performing a bunch of songs with a variety of activities to accompany each song. Sing-a-long, call and response, singing exercises, rhythm exercises, creative group songwriting, movement and dance, ect. The main goal is for students to have fun and develop a love for music. I also incorporate some solfege (do, re, me, etc.) and basic rhythm counting which I plan to build on over the summer. I consider these skills to be very important pre-requisites to learning an instrument.
About Jon: I started teaching music on Queen Anne in 2008. I've taught hundreds of students as a private teacher over the years, mostly elementary aged students. I also have plenty of experience doing group classes with toddlers to pre-k. In 2022, my first son was born and he became a student at QACP for tots class last year, and he just graduated from twos in June. Last summer I did a regular class in my front yard for my son's classmates. This summer I look forward to teaching in a larger space in the classroom at the Queen Anne Co-Op and reaching a wider community.
